Greetings brothers and friends,
When we talk about Eden and the sin that brought human beings to death, the first thing that comes to mind is disobedience, it is true, disobedience to the command God gave Adam and Eve, not to eat the fruit , it was what caused them to sin … but, before disobedience acted, there was an ingredient that made it possible for them to fall into sin.
One of the favorite areas where he likes to attack the enemy is the mind, “the thoughts of the human being”. Since creation, that was his strategy, since there, in the garden, the enemy manipulated Eva, sowing doubt in her mind and heart.
Genesis 3: 1-5
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Here we see how the snake questioned what God had said to the woman. The woman was not wise and allowed herself to be manipulated with the words of the snake, allowing doubt to take hold of her.
Then he began to see the fruit with other eyes, he no longer saw it as something forbidden, but with some curiosity, he gave ground to greed, and finally got carried away by it, until the doubt won causing disobedience.
Doubt never acts alone, just as the word of God is a seed that germinates and bears fruit, the enemy as a good imitator of God, uses his seed… “the doubt”.
This seed is thrown in the mind of the person, but little by little it causes its damage, if the person is not attentive, watching. The doubt Achieves its purpose with ease, because the human being is an easy prey, but when there is communion with God, trust in his word and the certainty that our father loves us so much that nothing he tells us or tells us to do, may harm us because his love for us is pure and true, There is no room for doubt. There doubt loses ground, and dies.
We must be alert so that doubt cannot enter our minds, much less our hearts. Let us always pray and put on the armor of God to protect the mind and heart.
